Who am i
Hello im Luca, I'm a British artist currently based in South Yorkshire, with roots in East Yorkshire. From a young age, I've had a deep love for animals, and that passion drives my work everyday.
MY education
I hold a First-Class Bachelor of Arts degree in Illustration and a Distinction in my Masters in Design, also specialising in Illustration. These studies have given me the skills and confidence to bring animal personalities to life on paper.
What I Do
I create detailed digital pet portraits that focus on capturing your pet’s character and personality in a natural and considered way. Rather than relying on quick filters or presets, each piece is built up from scratch, allowing me to focus on the small details that make your pet unique.
I work digitally using Procreate on an iPad, carefully layering colour, texture, and fine brushwork over 9–16 hours. Each portrait typically involves over 40,000 individual brushstrokes, a process that allows me to refine subtle features like fur direction, lighting, and expression so the final piece feels accurate and full of life.
Alongside commissions, I also create original artwork inspired by animals, which is available as a range of prints on my website.
Sustainability & Values
Sustainability is an important part of my practice, and something I consider throughout the way I create and deliver my work. As my commissions are primarily digital, this naturally reduces unnecessary material use and carbon emissions associated with traditional production and shipping.
The digital format also gives my clients flexibility. Each piece can be used again and again, whether that’s printing at different sizes or applying the artwork across a range of surfaces, from phone cases to cushions. This versatility allows the artwork to have a longer life without the need for repeated production.
For those who would prefer a physical piece, I offer sustainably produced prints for both commissions and original artwork, using materials and processes that aim to minimise environmental impact while maintaining a high-quality finish.
